32 AI citations in 26 days: Mobile Vikings Case Study

We took real, positive market data about Mobile Vikings and turned it into a piece of sponsored content that, in less than a month, became a source cited by leading AI models in responses to key brand and comparison queries.

(01) PROJECT OVERVIEW

How we turned UKE report data into an AI search advantage

Mobile Vikings shared with us the news that, according to the President of UKE’s report for Q2 2026, the brand recorded the best number-porting balance among MVNO operators in Poland, and the 2nd-best result among all operators in the country – trailing only Orange and outperforming the remaining players from the so-called “big four” (Play, Plus, T-Mobile) on this metric.

Our task was to leverage this information in a way that would genuinely influence the decisions of users researching the brand’s offer through AI search tools.

(02) Challenge

Getting good news in front of AI models

Having favorable market data doesn’t guarantee it will make its way into the answers generated by language models. We faced two challenges.

First, we had to choose the right publication channel – one that AI models would treat as a credible, topically relevant source for queries about telecommunications and mobile offers. Second, the information about the UKE ranking result had to be presented in a form that would maximize the chance of it being picked up and cited by LLMs – both for queries directly about the brand and for comparisons with competitors.

The goal, then, wasn’t just to publish the fact, but to turn it into a lasting reference point that AI models would draw on when answering users considering a number port.

It’s worth noting that this wasn’t about correcting an existing negative narrative about the brand – unlike previous work we’ve done. The starting point wasn’t a distorted brand image, but a weak, marginal signal: an Antyweb article commenting on the same UKE report had, over the monitored period, been cited by AI models only twice in three months. The goal was therefore to build a significantly stronger, dedicated reference point – one that AI models would turn to far more often than existing sources.

(03) Plan of action

Strategy: a sponsored publication as a data source for LLMs

Goal: increase the exposure of the fact that Mobile Vikings had the best number-porting balance among MVNOs in Poland, so that it would become a source used by AI models when answering queries about the Mobile Vikings brand.

Actions:

  • Choosing a publication topically connected to the telecom and tech industry
  • Preparing content based solely on hard, verified data from the UKE report
  • Using a clear structure (including a comparison table of MVNO operators) to make it easier for AI models to extract and cite the key information
  • Monitoring citations of the article in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot responses to brand and non-brand queries

(04) Optimization

Step by step

Step 1: Analyzing the source data

The starting point was the President of UKE’s report on number porting for Q2 2026, along with an accompanying industry publication (Antyweb), both provided to us directly by Mobile Vikings. Based on this material, we prepared the sponsored content, working from a fully verified and citable source.

Step 2: Choosing the publication site

We chose to publish on cyberacademy.com.pl, a site specializing in networking and technology topics. The choice was deliberate – the domain stands out for its high authority, strong traffic, and close topical alignment with the telecom industry.

In our assessment, when AI models look for information about a brand in response to a specific query, they turn first to specialist sites – much like a user searching for reliable data is more likely to land on Wikipedia or trade media than on a random portal. Combining high domain authority with narrow topical specialization meaningfully increases the odds of being cited by LLMs – an observation this project confirmed.

Step 3: Preparing content optimized for citability

We focused the publication strictly on the topic of the number-porting balance. The content included a clear table comparing MVNO operators on this metric, making it easier for AI models to extract a specific, citable piece of information.

Step 4: Monitoring citations across AI models

After publication, we continuously monitored whether and how the article was being cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot responses to brand-related queries as well as comparison queries against competitors.

(05) The result

32 citations in 26 days after publication

About 19 days after publication, the article had already been cited a total of 25 times in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot responses to business-critical comparison queries, including:

  • Is it worth porting your number to Mobile Vikings?
  • Should I port my number to Mobile Vikings?
  • Which is better – porting to Mobile Vikings or Play?
  • Which is better – porting to Mobile Vikings or T-Mobile?
  • Which is better – porting to Mobile Vikings or Orange?
  • Which is better – porting to Mobile Vikings or Plus?
  • Where’s better to port a number – MV or nju mobile?
  • Better customer service – Mobile Vikings or lajt mobile?

Notably, the article also began surfacing in non-brand queries, such as “Which mobile operator has the best offer for seniors?” and “What’s the best virtual mobile operator?” This shows that a well-targeted, data-driven sponsored publication can build touchpoints with users who haven’t yet consciously considered the Mobile Vikings brand – yet still encounter it during general AI-assisted research.

A follow-up measurement, taken 26 days after publication, confirmed that the effect wasn’t a one-off spike but a lasting, still-growing trend – the citation count had risen to 32. The breakdown by model: 30 citations came from Copilot and Perplexity, across the 8 brand and competitor-comparison queries listed above, while 2 more were recorded in ChatGPT for the non-brand query “What’s the best virtual mobile operator?”

As a result, Mobile Vikings gained a real advantage in a channel that is quickly becoming one of the key sources of information in purchase decisions – with the result, rather than fading over time, continuing to strengthen.
