What is Peer-To-Peer?

Peer-to-peer (P2P) is a decentralized communications model in which each party has the same capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Unlike traditional client-server models, where the client requests resources from a server, in a P2P network, each node, also known as a peer, serves as both client and server. This model is used for a variety of applications, such as file sharing, blockchain technologies, and the distribution of large datasets. P2P networks are designed to distribute tasks or workloads among peers, making them more resilient and scalable than centralized models. The decentralization aspect means there is no single point of failure, which enhances the robustness and availability of resources or services provided by the network.
